Katie Gomez earned athlete of the week honors after a national runner-up finish in the 124-class.  The MSC Freshman of the Year opened nationals with back-to-back 10-0 tech falls over Chloe Herrick (Missouri Baptist) and Isla Baeza (Missouri Valley) to advance to the quarterfinals.  Gomez followed that up with a 10-0 tech fall over Ellabelle Taylor (Evergreen State) to reach the semifinals.  Against #3 Joanna Vanderwood (William Penn), Gomez recorded four points in both the first and second period to earn the 8-2 decision.  Gomez faced #1 Cristelle Rodriguez of Doane in the championship match and jumped out to a 3-0 lead, however, the match ended at 5-5 and Gomez earned runner-up honors.  Her performance helped the Patriots to a third-place team finish, their best in program history.
