NAIA Week Two Women's Wrestling Poll

Kansas City, MO – After the second poll of the season was released the UC women's wrestling team moves up to number seven in the NAIA poll.

UC jumped up two spots from their last ranking and earned 131 votes compared to 109 votes in the last poll.

As a team the Patriots increase their ranked wrestlers from ten to 13, having eight of them improve their ranking. The 13 NAIA-ranked wrestlers is the best in program history beating their previous record of 11.

The top ranked individual for Cumberlands is Bridgette Duty in the 136-weight class. The junior has tied her career-best ranking at second. Duty is having her best season yet with an 11-1 overall record and a 3-0 record against ranked opponents.

The biggest jump in the poll for UC is freshman Angela Buenrrostro. The 191-pounder went from being unranked to the #10 wrestler. This is the first time she has been ranked in her young career and comes after she wrestled in her first match. Buenrrostro defeated the then ranked #7 wrestler by a 12-4 decision.

Joining Buenrrostro in the rankings for the first time in their careers are junior Kailee Godinez and freshman Hailey Budney. Godinez has already posted two wins on the season at the 155-weight class with both of them coming via fall. Godinez is ranked and Budney enters the poll at 15 for the 143-weight class.

Both 130-pounder Andrea Schlabach and 143-pounder Ismileyna Valles move up two spots in their ranking. Schlabach jumps from seventh to fifth following her 7-5 record, while Valles moves from 11th to ninth earning her best NAIA ranking to date.

Senior Madison Angelito earned another win this past week after winning by decision and now boasts an 8-3 record. Her improved record does not move her up in the 116-weight class and she stays ranked at ninth.

Ashley Ikner and Jesse Kirby continue to impress and move up one spot each in the rankings. Ikner moves up to 12th for the 130-weight class and Kirby moves up 7th in the 171-weight class.

After being ranked for the first time in their careers in the last poll, Olivia Coyne and Ashley Tobe remain at their rankings at 12th for 101 and 15th for 123 respectively.

Kelly-Ann Jimenez stays in the rankings at 19th for the 155-weight class.

UC returns to action next week when they travel to Dallas, TX for the two-day U.S. Open tournament starting on December 19.
