KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The #12 University of the Cumberlands women's wrestling team is set to compete at the 4th Annual NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championship, scheduled for March 13–14 at Heartland Credit Union Arena.
Cumberlands will send 10 wrestlers to the national tournament, including eight automatic qualifiers from the Mid-South Conference Championships and two conference wildcard selections. The Patriots enter the championship with seven wrestlers ranked nationally in their respective weight classes.
Leading the ranked group is #3 Saiheron Preciado-Meza at 180 pounds. Also representing the Patriots in the national rankings are #8 Naomi Duenas (207), #11 Genesis Gilmore (145), #13 Alivia Ming (145), #13 Sierra Mefford (160), #14 Mary Jane Porter (131), and #15 Ruth Jimenez (138).
Automatic qualifiers for Cumberlands include Kaitlin Castro (124), Jimenez (138), Gilmore (145), Ming (145), Mefford (160), Preciado-Meza (180), Duenas (207), and Destiny Marquez (207). Porter (131) and Micah Fisher-Miller (160) earned conference wildcard selections to round out the Patriot qualifiers.
With representation across multiple weight classes and seven nationally ranked wrestlers in the lineup, Cumberlands looks to make its mark on the national stage in Wichita.
Wrestling begins Friday, March 13 and concludes Saturday, March 14 at Heartland Credit Union Arena.
