UC Increases Ranked Wrestlers to Ten in Latest NAIA Poll

NAIA Week One Women's Wrestling Poll
 
Kansas City, MO - The first NAIA poll of the season was announced by league officials on Sunday with the Patriots landing ten wrestlers in the top-15 of their weight classes.
 
The highest ranking for the Patriots is Bridgette Duty at third moving up from her previous fourth place ranking. She bolters a 10-1 record this season including three wins over ranked opponents. The 136 pounder leads UC with a team high seven tech falls.
 
The second-best ranking for the Patriots is in the 130-pound weight class with Andrea Schlabach ranked seventh. The freshman is having a tremendous start to her collegiate career with a 7-4 including four wins by pin fall. Also ranked at 130 is Ashley Ikner at 13th having earned three wins this year.
 
Senior, Madison Angelito stays in the NAIA rankings at ninth. She bolsters the second-best record on the team with seven wins and three losses. Dorinda Andrews also stays in the rankings at 13th in the 109-weight class.
 
Of the UC women's wrestlers receiving votes, two of them enter the poll for the first time in their career. Junior, Olivia Coyne is ranked 12th at 101 after recording her first career pin fall at the Patriots Duals. Ashley Tobe joined Coyne with her first career ranking at 15th in the 123-pound weight class. Tobe is off to the best start in her collegiate career having already notched two wins in the young season.
 
Both Kelly-Ann Jimenez and Ismileyna Valles enter the rankings for the first time this season coming in 10th at 155 and 11th at 143 respectively.
 
Rounding out the top-ten rankings for UC is Jesse Kirby at eighth in the 170-pound weight class. Kirby has been able to win one of her matches by fall with one of the quickest times of 1:14.
 
The rankings of the ten wrestlers earned the Cumberlands a ninth-place ranking in the NAIA team polls with 109 points. Although the Patriots increased their ranked wrestlers from eight to ten, they drop six spots from their third-place rankings in the preseason poll.
 
Next up for the Patriots is a top-ten matchup against MSC rival, Campbellsville. UC will travel to the third ranked Tigers on Friday, December 6th for a 7 pm MSC dual.
