Williamsburg, KY – After a successful season for the University of the Cumberlands Athletic Department, five student-athletes were named to the CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, announced Thursday night.  The Patriots led the NAIA with four female Academic All-District honorees.

Goalie Emily Crump, swimmers Christina Klouda and Katy Smeltzer, and tennis player Tomomi Nagao were the four female student-athletes to earn this recognition, while midfielder Dylan Crouch earned it on the men's side.

Crump, a two-time NAIA First Team All-American, recorded 125 saves and limited opponents to 8.72 goals against average.  Crump helped UC to 16-4 overall record, including winning the inaugural Mid-South Conference regular season and tournament championships.  The junior is a Pre-Physical Therapy major and made 12 saves in the Patriots quarterfinal win over Reinhardt at the NAIA National Invitational.

Klouda earned Google Cloud All-District honors for the second straight year.  The biology and chemistry major captured a pair of NAIA National Titles this year, winning the 200 back as well as being a member of UC's 400 medley relay that won the first national title in school history.  Klouda is a 22 time All-American, four time Mid-South Conference Swimmer of the Year and holds five school records.

Smeltzer notched her first CoSIDA All-District honor after being part of UC's 400 medley national championship relay team and a nine-time All-American.  Smeltzer was a seven-time NAIA All-American at the 2019 NAIA National Championships to help the Patriots to a third place finish and their fifth straight MSC title.   She currently is part of four school records and is ranked in the top ten in three individual events. The biology major was a two-time Daktronic-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.

Nagao, a two-time first team all-conference selection, finished her season with a 12-4 singles record. The business major went 9-3 at #1 singles, including a 6-3, 6-1 win over Emily Chang to clinch UC's opening round match over Mobile at the NAIA National Tournament.  Nagao also partnered with Jaclyn Jewell for a 12-5 record in doubles.  The duo posted a 3-2 record against ranked opponents on the season.

Crouch notched All-District honors after tallying 31 goals, 22 assists, and 53 points to lead Cumberlands.  He tallied nine multi-goal games this season, including four goals in a game twice.  The business major has notched 56 goals and 36 assists in his career. Crouch's performance helped the Patriots capture their first AAC regular season championship and advanced to the semifinal of the NAIA National Invitational.

The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in their respective sport and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First and second team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
