Isenhoff Part of Men’s Compound Team that Will Compete for Bronze Medal at University World Games

Napoli, Italy – UC archer Josh Isenhoff was back in action Thursday competing in both the men's compound team and the mixed compound team brackets at the World University Games. Isenhoff and Denver Gross of Union will represent team in bronze medal match for a chance to finish atop the podium. 

The duo of Isenhoff and Gross earned the sixth-seed in the bracket and defeated 11th-seed Anton Bulaev and Asim Pavlov of Russia 150-147 in the opening round.  In the quarterfinals, team USA pulled the lone upset of the round knocking off third-seed Jongho Kim and Jeongmin Kim of Korea 152-151 to advance to the semifinals.

Isenhoff and Gross combined for their best round of the day in the semifinals recorded a 153, however it wasn't enough as the fell to second-seed Turkey 157-153 to fall to the bronze medal match. The United States will face top-seed Mexico (Miguel Becerra Rivas and Rodolfo Gonzalez De Alba), who fell to Iran 155-153 in the other semifinals.

In the mixed compound event, Isenhoff and teammate Dahlia Klimitchek defeated Japan 155-150 in the first round.  The duo however fell in the second round to Chinese Taipei 156-153. Chinese Taipei went on to win the next two rounds and advanced to tomorrow's gold medal match.
