Bowling Green, KY – After recording a career-best qualifying score and three first place finishes on the weekend, Patriot archer Elliott Cross has been named the Mid-South Conference Male Shooter of the Week, announced by the conference office Tuesday. Cross of this award for the first time in his career as he becomes the third Patriot to earn this accolade. 

Cross opened his season in dominating fashion at the USA 3D Archery Regional, where he shot a 422 with 19 12's to win the men's bowhunter division by 10 points.  The Monticello, KY native posted the best score in each of the two rounds carding a 212 in the first round before following it up with a 210 in the second round.  Cross's score was a career-best for the sophomore and is the third best score in program history.

The reigning MSC Freshman of the Year followed that up by hitting two 12's and a 14 during the men's bowhunter shootdown to finish in a four-way tie for first with 64 points.  In the one-arrow shoot-off, Cross placed his arrow 0.375 inches away from the center of the lower to win the shootoff and earn a gold medal.



In the men's bowhunter team division Cross teamed with Hunter Larese and Joshua Isaacs.  The trio, who were the top-seed, defeated Union 168-165 in the semifinals before dropping the championship match to finish with a silver medal.

Cross capped off her championship by partnering with Madison Cox in the mixed bowhunter team division. The top-seeded duo defeated Kentucky Christian before knocking off third-seed Union to earn the top spot on the podium.

Cross's performance was instrumental in the Patriots capturing their fourth straight MSC 3D championship.

The Patriots will return to action Friday, October 16, when they travel to Foley, AL to compete in the USA Archery 3D National Championship.  The Patriots will be seeking its third straight national title.
