Bowling Green, KY – University of the Cumberlands archer
Sarah Purtee has been named the Mid-South Conference Archer of the Week, announced by the conference office Tuesday. Purtee recorded two unofficial national records and a pair of gold medals over the weekend.
Purtee opened the week at the Bowling Green region indoor national, where the graduate student carded a 592 on day two to set the 600 score national record. Purtee also set a new 1200 round record with an overall score of 1177, which was eight points higher than the previous record. She hit 99 10's and 19 9's on the week to earn the top seed for the MSC tournament.
Purtee carried that momentum into the conference championship as she went 4-0 en route to the gold medal. The top-seed bowhunter archer posted one-point wins in both the semifinals and championship rounds. Purtee added another gold in the women's bowhunter team rounds, which helped Cumberlands rally to earn a second place finish at the championship.
This marks the third time this season that a Patriot has earned this recognition.
UC now will turn their attention to outdoor shooting as their next event comes on April 8-9 in Williamsburg, Kentucky as they will compete in the USA Archery Collegiate Outdoor Regional.
