UC Archery Opens USA Outdoor Regionals with 12 Podium Finishes; 17 Top-5 Qualifiers

Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots archery team began their outdoor season strong with 17 archers posting top-five scores in their respective divisions, including four Patriots archers earning the top-seed.  Additionally, UC earned 12 podium finishes during team rounds, including capturing six regional titles.

Chase White set the tone for Cumberlands earning the top-seed in the men's barebow division.  The freshman carded a 598 and hit six X's to break the program record.  Zach Matthews qualified fifth with a 551, which is the sixth-best score in program history, while Nicolas Mudd tallied a 484 to place seventh.

The Patriots men's barebow team posted a 2-0 record including a 5-1 win over Union Commonwealth in the gold medal match to finished atop the podium.

UC notched a one-two finish in both the women's fixed pins and women's barebow division.  Hannah Summers hit 15 X's and pulled away from the field to notch the top qualifying score in women's fixed pins.  Summers' score of 683 ranks third in program history.  Teammate Ayla Mills recorded a 673 to qualify second and tally the seventh best qualify score in program history.  Anslee Roberson (643), Anna Jo Rush (643), and Cammie Shuman (629) posted top-ten qualifying scores.

Summers, Mills, and Roberson dominated the women's fixed pins team rounds. The trio pulled away for a 2-0 record and defeated Pikeville 215-206 to capture the gold medal.

In the women's barebow division, Erin Heyob utilized consistent shooting over two-rounds to card a 539, which was the top mark.  Isabell Lehsten's 527, which ranks fifth in program history, earned the second-seed.  Mikayla Clemons tallied a 487 to place sixth, while Lauren Oosterban placed tenth with a 425.

Aiden Woodie captured UC's final top qualifying mark as he carded a 690 with 19 X's in the men's fixed pins division.  Jackson Ratajczak earned the third-seed after tallying a 688.  Those two scores rank second and third in program history.  Joseph West and Caleb Poe both recorded a 683, however, West is the fifth-seed with 18 X's.

Cumberlands posted four of the top-five qualifying scores in the women's compound division.  Lilie Aguilar led the way after tallying a 683 to place second.  Marissa Harding and Lanie Nish both notched a 680, however, Harding earned the third-seed with X count.  Brielle Ochnich rounded out the top-five with a 679.  Savannah Hoffman (679), Chloe McElroy (660), and Claire Garrison (639) each notched top-ten qualifying marks.

The trio of Aguilar, Harding, and Nish posted a 229-211 win over Lindsey Wilson in the gold medal match to capture the team title.

UC also had a trio of top five qualifiers in the women's recurve division with veteran Lidia Quezada leading the way.  The grad student tallied a 596, which was the seventh-best score in program history to qualify second.  Sheridan Weaver notched a career-best score of 551 to place third, while Ceridwyn Salyers was fourth with a 534.  Alexis McGraw (531), Alina Distelberg (513), and Lydia Haskamp (505) notched top-ten finishes.

The Patriots women's recurve team round opened with 6-0 over Campbellsville in the semifinals.  Quezada, Weaver, and Salyers followed that up with a 6-2 win over Pikeville to finish atop the podium. 

In men's compound, Blaine Kostrezewski tallied a 699 to garner the second seed.  That score ranks fifth in program history.  Noah Coyle edged out Zachary Neilson 690 to 688 for sixth place.

After earning the second-seed in the men's compound team rounds, Kostrezewski, Coyle, and Neilson knocked off Lindsey Wilson before edging out Union 229-226 in the gold medal match. 
Roman Carpeter was UC's top qualifier in the men's recurve division with a 472. 

In addition to their five titles during team rounds, Cumberlands also notched a runner-up finish in the men's fixed pins team rounds, while placing third in both men's recurve team and women's barebow team.

During the mixed team rounds, the Patriots tallied four podium finishes led by a gold medal in the mixed barebow. The duo of White and Heyob opened with a 6-0 win over Campbellsville to reach the finals.  After a back-and-forth match, White and Heyob won the shoot-off taking the match 5-4 to finish atop the podium.

The duo of Woodie and Summers compiled a 2-1 mark defeating Union 149-132 to earn a runner-up finish in the mixed fixed pins division.  Cumberlands also garnered third place finishes in both the mixed recurve and mixed compound divisions.

The Patriots will return to the range Friday, April 10th for the final day of the USA Archery Outdoor Regionals.  Head-to-head eliminations will begin at 8 a.m. with the Mid-South Conference team rounds to take place in the afternoon.  In addition, Cumberlands will recognize their 2026 senior class.
