Williamsburg, KY - Adding on to their roster for next season, UC women's wrestling is excited to announce four more recruits. Emily Alderman, Vanessa Nebre, Destiny Parsons, and Tenyea Ramirez have all signed to join the team starting this fall.
Alderman is a native of Fair Oaks, CA having wrestled for Bella Vista. Through her years of wrestling she has been a Napa Valley Classic Finalist, a two-time regional champion, a Master's Tournament Champion, and placed at the California State Tournament twice, earning fifth place this past season. When not competing, Alderman is involved in her school's student government and was a member of her high school's first graduating class.
Nebre joins Alderman as a California native, living in Bakersfield. Not only has Nebre qualified for the Master's Tournament twice but she also a part of the 2019 Master's Tournament Team Champion. She is an all-around athlete having competed in a total of three sports while in high school. Alderman's accomplishments exceed outside of the world of sports and into the classroom as she held a GPA of 3.5 and above for three years.
Making the short trip from Barbourville to Williamsburg, Parsons will look to continue her success in the Bluegrass State at the collegiate level. Having only wrestled for one season, Parsons was able to qualify for the Kentucky State Tournament after winning and placing in multiple tournaments throughout the season. Not only was she a captain for her wrestling team, but she was also a Battalion Commander for her JROTC unit that received honors distinction. Parsons also excels in the classroom and the community, earning two principal awards and several community service awards.
Also coming from the state of Kentucky is Ramirez who will have a familiar face join her at UC next season, fellow commit MaQuoia Bernabe, who wrestled with her at Woodford County. Ramirez has garnered national recognition, ranking in the top-20 at 144lbs amongst all wrestlers in the U.S. She was able to place fourth at the Preseason Nationals in 2019 and earned second place at the Kentucky State Wrestling Tournament. 2020 would prove to be Ramirez's best year when she was crowned the 2020 Kentucky State National Champion for the 145 weight class. Off the mats Ramirez was a staff reporter for her high school newspaper.
