Williamsburg, KY - After defeating Norwich University last Friday in Rainbow Six: Siege, the Cadets were back for more this week as the two teams faced off again late Thursday night. It was a repeat of last week's match as Cumberland's R6 team was able to record their second straight sweep as they grabbed the 2-0 victory.
Dylan Briggs was instrumental in the Patriot's win last week and was an even more integral part of UC's success as he led the team in kills with over 20 in the match. Briggs communicated with his teammates well and was able to recognize their opponent's game plan early on, leading to big performance.
"Dylan had his best game to date in this one and it made all the difference. He carried the load for us offensively and it allowed everyone else to play their role on the way to the win." - Assistant Coach Jacob Ball
Much like last week's match between the two teams, this one was close early on with UC able to take the momentum with each passing round of play. The first several rounds of action were close with Norwich able to keep pace with the Patriots in wins. That didn't last very long, though, as Cumberlands found their rhythm.
The dominance UC displayed during their bout with the Cadets showed up once again this week as they was able to control the match as time continued to pass. Briggs' offense was a major reason for that, but he was not alone as Johnathon Cox and Johnathan Walters were key in the win as well.
Walters earned the Ace in game two as he recorded the finishing blow on each of Norwich's players in the opening round of game two. His immaculate finish to the opening round of the second game set the tone for the rest of the night as there was little UC could do wrong after that. Cox was a major factor on the defensive side of things for Cumberlands as he communicated well with everyone on his team and kept everyone connected.
Cumberland's Rainbow Six: Siege team moves to 3-4 on the season with back-to-back wins over the Cadets with both victories coming via the sweep. UC returns to R6 action next Friday (Nov. 26) as they look for their first three-game win streak of the season.
