UC Dance Captures First MSC Championship; Rector Named MSC Dancer of the Year

Bowling Green, KY – The UC dance team saved their best performance of the season for the biggest stage as they captured their first Mid-South Conference championship Saturday afternoon.  In addition to claiming the team title, Patriot Natalie Rector was also named the inaugural MSC Dancer of the Year. 

"I'm really proud of them for getting one of the highest scores in the country during today's championship performance," said Head Coach RJ Conroy.  "This group came together to win the championship and now we hope to take this momentum with us to regionals in a couple of weeks."

The Patriots recorded a season-best score of 85.17 to runaway with the championship by 14 points.  That score was over 15 points better than their previous season best.  Cumberlands has now averaged 66.98 points over their five routines this season. 

In addition to the team success, Natalie Rector was named the MSC Dance of the Year becoming the first recipient of this award.  Rector along with Victoria Combs and Hannah Grace Kirk was also named to the MSC All-Conference Team.

Campbellsville placed second with a 71.03, while Thomas More finished third with a score of 69.40. 

The Patriots will return to the floor Friday, February 26, when they travel to Pittsburgh, PA to compete in the NAIA Regional Championship.
