Daytona Beach, FL – The University of the Cumberlands dance team competed at the NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship this week, taking the floor in both the Jazz and Pom NAIA divisions. 

In the Jazz competition, the Patriots advanced to finals and earned a runner-up finish with a score of 82.49, placing second behind the University of Pikeville. St. Thomas University rounded out the top three. 

Cumberlands opened the event with a strong preliminary performance in Jazz, posting an 83.57 to secure a spot in the finals before improving their placement on the final day of competition. 

In the Pom division, the Patriots posted a 79.34 in finals to earn a fourth-place finish. Midland University claimed the top spot, followed by Central Methodist and Ottawa University. 

The appearance marked the only competition of the season for the Patriots, as the team showcased its versatility by competing in multiple disciplines on the national stage.
