NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll- Post Season

Kansas City, MO – After the most successful season in program history, the UC men's soccer team finishes ranked #6 in the NAIA Postseason Poll, announced by the national office. The team jumped 15 spots since the last poll released over a month ago on April 14 to claim the program's highest ranking in the NAIA Poll in their history.

The Patriots ended their season at the NAIA Quarterfinals. Previously the team had never won an NAIA postseason game, but this season the team went 3-1 including wins over #12 Lindsey Wilson and #14 Indiana Tech. Their lone loss at the tournament was 1-0 to #3 Central Methodist.

Before bowing out of the tournament Cumberlands went on an 11 game win streak with three victories in the Mid-South Conference Tournament to claim the program's first MSC Title since 1996. That title run was no easy feat having to knock off both Lindsey Wilson and #10 Bethel (Tenn.) outscoring them both 5-1.

In their final record of 14-6-2, UC had nine shutouts, ranking them seventh in the NAIA. On the offensive end the team tallied 48 assists for eighth most in the nation. They also racked up 50 goals for 13^th most in the NAIA. UC held opponents to just 16 goals against all year and the Patriots never lost a game by more than one goal.

For their efforts, eight Patriots earned all MSC Honors with Akililu Zambataro and Sergio Infantes Castell picking up first team nods. Infantes Castell led the team in assists with 11, ranking him eighth in the country. Zambataro also earned NAIA All-American Honorable Mention for the first time in his career off his .700 goals against average, 10^th best in the NAIA.

The team will look to build upon their success from the 2020-21 season as they prepare for their upcoming season in just a few months. The schedule for the upcoming season will be released at  a later date.
