CoSIDA All-District Honorees

Williamsburg, KY – Rewarded for his efforts in the classroom and on the field, Sergio Infantes Castell, earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® First Team, as announced on Thursday. Infantes Castell becomes the first UC men's soccer player to garner First Team accolades in program history and the second to earn All-District honors since Cedric Muteshi in 2010.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Cumberlands is in District 2, which features schools from Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. To be eligible for this award a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher with a minimum GPA of 3.30.  They also have played in at least 50% of its team's games as well as be a contributor on the field. 

Infantes Castell is a two-time MSC Academic All-Conference and three-time MSC First Team All-Conference proving he excels both in the classroom and on the pitch. Athletically, he led the team in assists with 11 and second on the team with 10 goals giving him a team best 31 points. As UC's assist leader he also ranked eighth in the NAIA. While playing soccer the Madrid, Spain native received his degree this past spring in Exercise and Sport Science.

Since Infantes Castell earned First Team Academic All-District honors he advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in July.

Three student-athletes from across the Mid-South Conference earned the honor with Infantes Castell, Kevin DeLange from Shawnee State and Mario Lopez from Martin Methodist.
