10/10/2022 4:32:00 PM

Bowling Green, KY – Pablo Vazquez has kept up his impressive form in goal, earning his third straight Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week Award, announced by the conference Monday. Vazquez becomes the first player from any team to win a weekly award three consecutive weeks this season.

On the week, Vazquez made three saves and gave up just one goal to help UC to a win and a tie. In the first match against UT-Southern, the freshman earned his fourth shutout of the season for the 1-0 Cumberlands victory. He got a save in the game in the 7th minute, having to stop a shot from point blank range.

In the second game of the week, UC faced (RV) Cumberland U where Vazquez had to make a pair of saves to help the Patriots secure a tie and keep their MSC unbeaten streak alive. Vazquez's first save came just five minutes before halftime when the Phoenix were awarded a penalty kick. The Cumberland U attacker tried to slot the ball into the left side of the net, but Vazquez read the ball well and stopped the ball before it crossed into the net. His second save came in the 58', when a well struck ball was heading for the top of goal, and Vazquez punched it over.

This marks the fourth time the Sevilla, Spain native has earned the award this season, making him the first player since the 2020 season to earn it that many times in one year.

The Patriots will be back in action on Wednesday, October 12 when the team heads to Lindsey Wilson for an 8:30PM ET kick-off.
