Bowling Green, KY – After helping lead the (RV) Patriots women's basketball team to a 2-0 start on the season, Kassie Monday garnered the first Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honor, conference officials announced Monday.  It marks the second time in her career the sophomore earned this distinction.

Monday averaged a team-best 18.5 points per game to go along with eight assists, five rebounds, and four steals on the weekend.  The Clarkrange, TN native opened the season with 20 points, two assists, and a pair of rebounds in the win over Bluefield.  Monday netted 17 points in the first quarter, which is a program record for points in a quarter, and helped Cumberlands jump out to a 29-16 early lead. Kassie also tallied a block and a steal in the win.

The reigning MSC Freshman of the Year followed that up with a team-high 17 points, six assists, three steals and three rebounds against Voorhees.  Monday went 7-12 from the field, while the six assists and three steals are a season-high.  Once again, Monday started the game hot going 4-6 from the field with four assists in the opening quarter helping the Patriots to a 32-18 edge.  UC went on to win  the game 98-43 over the Tigers.

Cumberlands is 2-0 on the season and are averaging 97.5 points per game.

UC will return to the court Thursday, November 3, when they host Simmons College as part of the Patriot Classic.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. with live video available here.
