Kansas City, MO – After another successful season on the field, the Cumberlands men's soccer team also excelled in the classroom. The team had seven student-athletes recognized as a 2022 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete, announced by the national office on Monday.
Five student-athletes garner the honor for the second time in their career in
Alejandro Gonzalez,
Hrannar Magnusson,
Marco Muca,
Tommaso Ogliari and
Ingmar Struck. While
Storm Hollensted and
Ricardo Lopes de Matos took home the award for the first time in their careers. This marks the second straight season UC has had five or more make the list.
This Fall, the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete programs recognizes men's soccer players from 170 institutions. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
The Patriots just finished up their season with a 10-4-5 overall record and making it to the NAIA Tournament for the third consecutive season.
