Mount Vernon, GA – The Patriots faced off against Limestone and #19 Brewton-Parker in a tri-dual on the Barons' campus on Wednesday night. UC Split the duals defeating the Saints, 27-22 and falling to the Barons 24-19.

The only wrestler to go 2-0 on the night for Cumberlands without a forfeit win was Allyson Arrington. She picked up a fall victory and a decision win to give her double digit wins on the season.

#8 CUMBERLANDS DEFEATS LIMESTONE: 27-22
To start off the dual there were three forfeits, two of which went to UC as wins to put the tea score at 10-5 heading into the 123-matchup. The Saints rattled off a fall and tech fall win to give them a 14-10 advantage.

Arrington stepped to the mat for the 136 bout and dominated the whole way through. The freshman picked up two-points early on to jump out to a lead. She then hit a crotch lift to a power half, earning two more points and putting her opponent on her back for the fall victory. This marks the seventh win by pin for the Long Beach, CA native and gave UC the 15-14 lead.

Limestone won via back-to-back tech falls, giving them 19 points, but the Patriots scored in both to give them two team points for a 19-17 Limestone advantage.

With the Saints forfeiting the 191-matchup, it all came down the 170 bout to decide the winner. For UC, #7 Chamira Cooper wasted no time, earning six points in the opening minute of the match. The final two-point takedown for Cooper was a single, which forced her opponent on her back for the fall at 58 seconds and securing the win for UC. Adding the five points from Cooper's win and the forfeit, Cumberlands won 27-22.

#8 CUMBERLANDS DROPS #19 BREWTON-PARKER: 24-19
Through the first five matches, the Barons had all of the momentum. UC had just five points from a forfeit at 101 and Brewton-Parker earned 14 from two falls and a tech fall for the 14-5 advantage heading into the 130-match.

But once again when the Patriots needed a win, Arrington stepped up. This time, Arrington found herself down two points to begin the match, but she kept her composure and earned a two-point takedown herself to tie it up 2-2 going into the second period. The reset was all Arrington needed, blanking her opponent while earning six more points herself. She did a pass-by and front headlock and then defended a sot and hipped in to get a takedown. Arrington won with a 8-2 decision moving the team score a little closer for UC at 15-8.

The Barons then won the next two matches to put the dual out of reach at 24-8 heading into the final two matches.

In her first match in a Patriots uniform, Dymond Guilford made a statement. Guilford used a double and stacked the girl to her back for the four-point takedown and putting her opponent on her back for the pin. What was most impressive was it all happened within the first 10 seconds of the match, which means Guilford now has the third fastest pin in the program's history.

UC earned five points via forfeit in the final match, putting the final score at 24-19 in favor of the Barons. With the 1-1 record in the tri-dual UC moves to 8-8 on the season and the loss to Brewton-Parker finishes out the Mid-South Conference Regular season for Cumberlands at 1-4.

The dual against St. Andrews scheduled for February 14 has officially been ruled as a forfeit win for UC. This moves their next competition to the MSC Championships to February 20 in Bowling Green, KY.
