Cumberlands Ranked Eighth in Final Regular Season Poll

NAIA Coaches' Poll - Final

Kansas City, MO – Two weeks before the NAIA Championships and the final regular season NAIA Coaches' Poll with Cumberlands coming in at #8. UC earned 100 points as a team with eight wrestlers ranked in their respective weight classes. Six of the eight are ranked in the-top ten, matching their total from the last poll.

The lone Mid-South Conference champion for UC was Jesse Kirby who holds her #4 ranking in the 191-weight class. She knocked off three top-20 wrestlers enroute to her MSC title, pushing her total wins to 30 on the season. Also, in the rankings at 191 is MaQuoia Bernabe at #11, moving up four spots from the last poll. She finished in fourth place at the MSC Championships, with a win over at the time ninth ranked Catherine Palmieri from Life.

Dymond Guilford finished second at the MSC Championships in the 170-weight class putting her as the #5 wrestler in the NAIA. She has a 2-1 record on the season for UC, including a 10 second pin in her first match as a Patriot. Holding her #7 spot at 170 is Chamira Cooper. She has a 25-5 record on the season, marking the most success she has seen on the mats in her collegiate career.

After earning second place at the MSC Championships Aliyah Yates is the sixth ranked wrestler in the 136-weight class. She has an 8-3 record on the year with three top-two finishes on the season.

Alexis Medina stays ranked at #8 in the NAIA for the 116-weight class. On the season she has tallied a 17-8 overall record, marking her most successful season of her career.

Elizabeth Dosado stays in the top-ten for 101. She garnered Third Team All-Conference honors at the MSC Championships with a 3-1 record. The victories pushed her season record over the .500 mark to 16-14.

Moving up a spot was Jaine Stephens in the 109-weight class to #17. She has posted a 15-9 overall season record.

The Mid-South is well represented in the poll with Campbellsville as the #1 team followed by Life in fourth place. Indiana Tech and Brewton-Parker are behind UC in the rankings at 17 and 18 respectively.

This poll comes out before the NAIA Qualifiers will be released in the coming weeks. The NAIA Championship is a two-day tournament in Jamestown, ND from March 11-12.
