Ypsilanti, MI- Appearing in their first NAIA National Championship in program history the University of the Cumberlands dance team is in 12th place after the first day of competition.

The Patriots boasted a preliminary round score of 64.40, after a one point deduction from the judges.

Mornigside notched a 91.93 to sit in first place after the opening round of competition, while St. Ambrose is in second after scoring a 91.77.  Midland, Aquinas, and Viterbo round out the top five.

UC will return to the mats Saturday, March 12 for the final day of the NAIA National Championships. The Patriots are set to perform at 3:00 p.m. EST and the competition can be live streamed here.
