Williamsburg, KY – After strong performances throughout the week the UC athletic department has announced that pitcher Kaiti White and the men's bowling team have been selected as the Pepsi Athletes of the Week.

White was named the female athlete of the week after earning recording a pair of wins in the Patriots sweep over Shawnee State.  The sophomore pitched 12.1 innings of scoreless softball, scattering six hits and eight strikeouts over two games.  White opened the series going 5.1 innings limiting the Bears to three hits, while striking out four as UC won the series opener 2-0.  The Hillsboro, OH native followed that up with a complete game shutout striking out four, while holding Shawnee State to three hits and no walks.  That was Cumberlands first seven inning complete game shutout of the season and moves White to 6-1 on the year with a 1.28 ERA.

The men's bowling team earned the male athletes of the week honors after their strong performance during the NAIA National Championships.  The team of Robert Borowski, Bryce Frantz, Liam McNamara, Thomas McNeal, Austin Montgomery, Brandon Salazar, Aaron Warner, and Charles Wilken led Cumberlands to the top qualifying seed in the tournament.  Sitting in 11^th place after the opening set, the Patriots shot at least 800 in each of the final five sets, including an 874 in the fourth set to climb the leaderboard and finish with a 4,916, eight points ahead of the next closest team.  Earning the top-seed gave UC a bye and in the second round Cumberlands knocked off eighth-seed Marian 3-2 winning the decisive fifth set 207-206 to advance.  After falling to the elimination bracket, the Patriots rallied from behind taking the fourth and fifth set over Tennessee Wesleyan to advance to the top four.  UC's ultimately fell to the eventual champion Indiana Tech 3-2, however, their fourth place finish is the highest in program history.  McNeal was named to the NAIA All-Tournament Team for his efforts throughout the tournament.
