Tommy Chasanoff has been elected as the Second Vice President of the NAIA-SIDA Board of Directors, it was announced by the NAIA-SIDA Board Monday afternoon. This marks his third time serving on the board and first time being elevated to a Vice President role.
Chasanoff moves to the Second Vice President role after serving two-terms as At-Large representative, a role which he has served in since 2018. Over the past four years in that role, Chasanoff has served as a liaison for the Statistics, History, Records, and Honors Committee, with one of the focuses being assisting with the transition from Dakstats to Presto.
"I am honored to be elected by my peers to continue to serve as part of the NAIA-SIDA Board," said Chasanoff. "The Board has made tremendous strides in recent years and I'm looking forward to continuing to build on that success in this new role."
Chasanoff just completed his sixth year as the Sports Information Director at Cumberlands and has been active at both the conference and national level, within both the NAIA and CoSIDA. Chasanoff has served as the media coordinator for 12 NAIA National Championships, the tournament director for countless MSC conference championships, and served as the host SID for three NAIA Baseball Opening Round. Tommy has been named the Mid-South Conference Bill Sergent SID of the Year three times and was voted the NAIA-SIDA SID of the Year in 2020. He is currently serving as the Vice Chair of CoSIDA Membership Recognition Committee, while being a member of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Chasanoff is scheduled to present at the annual CoSIDA Convention for the fourth time in the past five years.
At UC, Chasanoff and his staff have been instrumental in helping Patriot Student-Athletes be recognized for awards at both the conference and national levels. UC has had 68 NAIA National Players of the Week, 562 conference players of the week, 695 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, 1,469 academic all-conference selections, 70 CoSIDA Academic All-District selections, and 50 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans since 2016.
