Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots Esports team saw their first action of the season as they played two Rocket League matches against Toronto Metropolitan University and Rochester University. Each match features a best-of-five series, in which the first team to win three games wins the match.
 
Match 1 vs. TMU Bold
The Patriots jumped out to a quick lead after an aerial goal from Jonathan "AlwaysRety" Jackson. TMU would respond with a goal of their own to tie things up. The Bold would keep the pressure high, scoring three more goals to take the first game 4-1.
 
 In game two, Toronto took just 12 seconds to get on the board and added two more on top of that soon after. Jackson "Oqya" Sisco cut the lead to two with four minutes left, but it wasn't enough as TMu took game two 4-1.
 
James "Killer_JJD" Dosado started game three off with a goal to take the 1-0 lead. TMU responded with 2:46 minutes left and went ahead of the Pats with one minute left. A valiant effort from UC fell short as they dropped game three 3-1. AlwaysRety tallied four shots, Oqya had two, while Killer_JJD shot once and scored once. This loss gave Toronto Metropolitan the match win.
 
Match 2 vs. RU Warriors
Rochester came out hot in the first game of the series, winning 3—and limiting the Patriots to just one shot the entire game.
 
Game two came down to the wire, but the Warriors edged out the Pats 4-3. RU scored the first goal of the game before Oqya sent a cross to AlwaysRety to tie things up. Rochester found the back of the net two more times, taking the 3-1 lead with three minutes left. Killer_JJD and AlwaysRety scored back to back goals for UC to even the game up with two minutes remaining. The Warriors would score the game-winning goal in the final two minutes to take a 2-0 series lead.
 
RU carried the momentum into the final game to run away with it 3-0 and take the series 3-0 as well. JJD recorded the only shot of the game for UC in a limited offensive attack.
