Kansas City, MO- For the first time in his career Stephen Appiah earns NAIA offensive player of the week. Appiah racked up four goals and one assist during the two Patriot matches this past week.

This past week, UC had breakout performances #13 Rio Grande and West Virginia Tech this past week. The Pats handed each of these teams their first losses of the season, and marked Rio Grande's biggest loss since 2017.

Appiah snagged offensive player of the week when he recorded back-to-back multi scoring games for the first time in his career. Appiah's first brace of the week came against West Virginia Tech. A header and a tap in following a one-on-one with the WVT goalkeeper helped push the Pats to their first win of the season.

When asked about his star player of the week, Head Coach Chris LeFevre said, "Stephen is being recognized for the quality he showed in his goal scoring this past weekend. What is unseen is the complete performances he put on display in all phases of the game for both games. This is what makes him special! We are proud of him and thankful he is a Patriot!"

The Louisville, KY native recorded his second brace in UC's match against #13 Rio. Appiah was able to tap in goal number one for Cumberlands, record an assist on goal number two, and score goal number three after floating the ball over the Rio goalkeeper's head- knocking the ball off the crossbar and into the net.

The match ended 4-1 and Appiah racked up a total of 5 points. No UC men's soccer player has recorded that many points in one game since 2020 against Shawnee State.

Cumberlands is set to compete this Saturday, September 10 against #22 Lyon. This will be the first match of the season played at the UC Soccer Complex- kickoff is set for 7PM.
