Campbellsville, KY- Competing in their third season as an NAIA Championship sport, the UC Dance team tallied incredible scores earning themselves a win and and second-place finish over two rounds of competition at the Campbellsville Invite Friday night.
The Patriots opened the night with a round-one score of 85.53 to notch their first win of the night. UC scored just one point ahead of Thomas More, who finished in second, and six points in front of Campbellsville, who finished third. It marks the second straight year the Cumberlands recorded a first place finish in their season opening performance. The score of 85.53 is also the third highest score in program history. Â
"I am really proud to pull off a victory tonight. We will take the judge's feedback and get back to work this week," said Head Coach
RJ Conroy. "This competition sets the stage for the season, especially as we compete in the MSC, which is talented from top to bottom."
Cumberlands followed up on their first round performance with a score of 82.13, to finish runner-up in the round. The Patriots closed out the round five points behind TMU, who placed first with an 87.67.Â
UC finished the competition with a first and second-place trophy to open the season. Cumberlands currently ranks second in the NAIA with an average score of 83.83. Â
The Patriots will return to the floor on January 28
th in Williamsburg, KY to compete in the UC Dance and Cheer Invite. Live video of the competition is available
