Bowling Green, KY- For the third straight season, the Cumberlands Patriots clinched the Mid-South Conference Tournament title, defeating Freed-Hardeman in the championship game. The Pats took both the Regular Season and Tournament Title, marking them as the undisputed champs. They beat the Lions, 4-1, after five innings of play, with the game being called due to weather.
Jake got the start and pitched 3.0 innings, scattering one run over three hits with a walk and four strikeouts. After the rain delay,
Dustin Sprong came in and picked up the win after pitching 2.0 innings and not allowing a hit or a run with two walks and four strikeouts.
Evan St Claire and
Ryan Shavers tallied one homerun each.
Charlie Muniz also had a double.
The Lions got on the board first after scoring a run in the first. Later in the third, the Pats tied the game 1-1, before the first rain delay. With one out,
Raphy Almanzar got walked.
Then Muniz stepped to the plate and hit an RBI double down the left line for the 1-1.

After an hour-and-a-half rain delay, Sprong struck out two to get the bats back in the Patriots hands. St Claire led off with a home run to right field to take the lead.

Ben Snapp followed with a walk and advanced to second on an error. Shavers followed with a no-doubter to right field to take the 4-1 lead.

After the bottom of the fifth, the game was called due to rain and lighting, leading to the Patriots earning their third straight MSC Title. Cumberlands earns one of the Mid-South's automation bids and is waiting to learn what teams are coming to Williamsburg, KY, for the NAIA Opening Round.
