Williamsburg, KY – UC's esports team has started off the year with a bang, winning 14 of their first 16 matches across six different titles. The Pats have competed in League of Legends, Rocket League, Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant, and Super Smash Bros as apart of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the North Eastern Conference of Collegiate Esports (NECC).
Rocket League
UC's rocket league squad have begun their 2024 campaign with three straight wins. They started the year with a 3-1 victory over the University of Dayton before taking down Hobart and William Smith University 4-2. The team most recently took on the University of Florida Gators, where Jonathan Jackson led the Pats to a 3-1 victory. Jackson recorded eight goals while Aedan Poore added six assists.
Overwatch
The Overwatch team is also a perfect 3-0 on the season. They took down Wilmington University 3-0 while also defeating Messiah University in a close 3-2 matchup. This week the Patriots dominated the University of North Alabama in a 3-0 blowout.
Rainbow Six Siege & League of Legends
Cumberlands have not dropped a match in Rainbow Six Siege or League of Legends on the year. The rainbow six squad earned a 2-1 victory over Tarleton State University and a 2-0 win over Murray State. Budge Cox led the charge against the Racers with 23 eliminations while newcomer Tyler Hanson added 20, respectively. The LOL team has only played one match on the year, where they defeated Wake Forest 2-1.
Super Smash Bros
The Patriots fell for the first time this season in Super Smash Bros, with a 2-0 loss against SUNY Ferdonia College, but have bounced back winning their next three games. UC took down Valparaiso, Waynesburg, and Indiana Tech without dropping a game. In the victory over the Indiana Tech, Dustin Sulfridge was dominant, taking a total of 10 out of the possible 12 stocks in the contest.
Valorant
The Valorant team is 2-1 on the season with victories over the University of South Florida and the University of Georgia. They defeated the Bulls 2-0 to start the season before taking down the Bulldogs 2-0 as well. In that matchup, Isaiah Jarzab finished with a team best 35 eliminations and just 23 deaths.
