Results
Williamsburg, KY – The UC archery team had a strong opening performance record 23 top-five finishes, including 14 podium finishes at the USA Archery 3D Regionals hosted at the Whitley County Fairgrounds Friday. Four Patriots finished atop the podium in their respective class and will also earn the top-seed in tomorrow's MSC 3D Championship.
Tanner Barker,
Marissa Harding,
Ceridwyn Salyers, and
Colton Caudill are the four Patriot archers that finished first in their respective class.
Barker was consistent carding a 224 in both the first and second round to repeat as the men's compound regional champion with a final score of 448. UC had the top four finishers in the men's compound class as
Isaac Sullivan placed second with a 446, while
Blaine Kostrzewski edged out teammate
Landyn Cox for the bronze medal, 442 to 440, respectfully.
Cumberlands also notched four of the top-five qualifiers in the women's compound division led by senior Harding. The Vestal, NY native achieved 19 bonus rings and carded a 222 in the first round en route to finishing with a personal best 438.
Claire Garrison utilized a strong second round to climb to second place with a 426.
Grace Moore and
Lanie Nish placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 415 and 414. Newcomers
Savannah Hoffman (414) and
Sierra Sands (408) both posted top-ten finish in their Patriot debut.
In the men's fixed pins division it was Caudill, who earned the top spot after carding a 418. The junior hit 14 bonus rings to edge out the field by two points. Veterans
Jaden Taylor and
Connor Mullis each posted a top-five finish wit a score of 414 and 413 to earn their spot in the conference shootdowns.
Joseph West notched a 412 to place sixth.
Salyers notched her first 3D regional title after carding a career-best score of 394 with eight bonus rings. The senior notched a 196 in the first round and followed that up with a 392.
Brianna Laux placed one spot back with a 392 and ten bonus rings, while
Lidia Quezada notched a fourth-place finish with a 378.
Cumberlands had a trio of top-five finishers in the women's fixed pins division led by
Hollyann Lewis, who posted a runner-up finish. Lewis carded a 202 in the first round, which was the best round by any Patriot archer on the day, before finishing with a 395.
Hannah Summers reached the podium in her debut totaling a 388 to place third.
Ela Smallacombe finished fifth with a 386, while
Cammie Shuman's 382 qualified her for the conference shootdowns.
Tyler Woosley opened his senior campaign with a runner-up finish in the men's barebow division. Woosley carded a 357, which is the third best qualifying score in program history. Teammate
Jonathan Morris placed fourth with a 307, while
Isaac Ivey carded a 284 and placed sixth in his barebow debut.
Kennedy Sumpter and
Erin Heyob posted a top-five finish in the women's barebow division. Sumpter recorded a career-best 322 and hit five bonus rings to notch a runner-up finish. Heyob placed fifth with a 313.
In the men's recurve division, freshman
Brodie Vinson earned second place after carding a 189 in both rounds to finish with a 378. Vinson is the top-seed in the conference shootdown and will be joined by
Robert Gillette, who placed seventh with a 324.
Cumberlands success today also earned them the top-seed in ten of the 12 team round divisions.
UC returns to the range Saturday, September 21
st, for the Mid-South Conference 3D Archery Championship. The event will begin at 9 a.m. on the UC All Purpose Field with the individual shootdowns that will be livestreamed
