Jolly and Gregg Named Patriots “Brick Oven” September Athletes of the Month

Williamsburg, KY – Being a vital part of their team's success, setter Savanah Jolly and quarterback Drew Gregg have been selected as the September Athletes of the Month presented by The Brick Oven, the athletic department announced Wednesday. The University of the Cumberlands Athletic Department in conjunction with their corporate partner, The Brick Oven, are presenting the "The Brick Oven Athletes of the Month", which will be awarded to the top two student-athletes each month.
 
Savanah Jolly earned athlete of the month honors after an incredible month that included earning six MSC Player of the Week honors.  Jolly has opened the season averaging 11.22 assists per set to go along with 2.70 digs per set, and 61 kills.  The junior has dished out at least 30 assists in 15 matches and 40+ assists four times on the season.  Jolly has kept the Patriots attack balance as Cumberlands has posted a .307 attack percentage on the season, averaging 14.24 kills per set.  Jolly has notched four double-doubles on the season, including a season-high 48 assists and 13 digs in the win over #17 Montana Tech.  The Louisville, KY native added 45 assists against both (RV) Indiana Tech and Bethel.  Jolly tallied a season-high 24 digs to go along with 32 assists and six kills in UC's 3-0 win over (RV) Lindsey Wilson.  The junior also has notched a season-high seven kills twice, while collecting 18 aces, and 13 blocks.
 
Drew Gregg earned athlete of the month honors after leading the Patriots football team to a 3-1 start on the year.  Gregg has thrown for 764 yards and 11 touchdowns, while adding 126 yards and two scores on the ground.   The Newport, TN native opened the season with 342 yards and four touchdowns in the win over Union Commonwealth.  Gregg followed that up with 134 yards and three scores against Bluefield.  The grad student is coming off a strong performance at Warner where he threw for 115 yards and three scores, while adding 58 yards on the ground.  Gregg has helped keep the Patriots offense balanced, posting an 147.3 passing efficiency to go along with a 63.72% completion percentage.
