Williamsburg, Ky. — For the first time since 2008, the University of the Cumberlands men's soccer team has claimed the Mid-South Conference Regular Season Championship, securing the title outright following another dominant campaign. The Patriots clinched the championship with an unbeaten 5-0 record in conference play, earning 15 points to put the title mathematically out of reach for the rest of the league.
Cumberlands (8-3-4, 5-0 MSC) holds a five-point lead over both Cumberland (Tenn.) and Bethel (Tenn.), each sitting at 10 points with one match remaining. With the gap too large to close, UC locks up its first regular season crown in 17 years and the fourth in program history.
The Patriots have been relentless in conference action, recording four shutouts in five matches while showcasing one of the league's stingiest defensive units. That consistency on both ends of the pitch has powered UC to the top of the Mid-South standings. UC will then enter the Mid-South Conference Tournament as the #1 seed.
Cumberlands will close out the regular season on Saturday, October 25, when they travel to #24 Bethel University (Tenn.) for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff in McKenzie, Tenn.
