UC Women’s Swimming & Diving Finishes Strong to Win the Speedo Centre Invite

Danville, KY – The Patriots women's swimming & diving team notched a trio of wins and three "A" cuts Saturday as Cumberlands won the Speedo Centre Invite.  UC recorded 2,512 points over the three-day meet and clipped 17 national cuts on Saturday.

UC set the tone early in finals as Bella Hoare pulled away from the field and clocked a 17:15.72 to win the 1650 free with a NAIA "A" standard.  That time broke the meet record, clipped the NAIA A cut by 12 seconds and is the second fastest time in UC history.  Posting the second fastest time in the NAIA this season is Juliana Lopez Morales, who touched the wall in a career-best time of 17:23.75 to clip an A cut.  Mara Ellerkamp placed eighth with a time of 18:20.38, clipping the provisional standard.

Sarah Zoellner collected her third individual win of the meet as she went 2:05.86 to win the 200 back.  Bailey Amerman clocked a 2:11.14 to place fourth in the finals, while Madeline Barbee touched the wall in a season-best time of 2:11.40.

Four Patriots clipped the NAIA provisional cut in the 200 breast.  Megan Schoenlein led the way for UC going a career-best 2:22.75 to finish runner-up.  That is the fifth fastest time in the NAIA and the sixth best time in program history.  Moa Nyblom placed fifth clocking a 2:24.90, while Helena Jarosz (2:26.13) and Kathryn Harrison (2:26.77) finished seventh and eighth, respectively.

Ugne Takuseviciute has continued her incredible sophomore campaign as she clocked a 52.37 to finish third in the 100 free.  That was a career-best time for Takuseviciute and the seventh fastest time in program history.   Victoria Niska edged out Celin Ullern by 0.01 seconds (53.90 to 53.91) to place eighth, while Alicja Sedlak was tenth going 53.97.

Hoare also competed in the prelims of the 200 fly, where she notched the top-seed with a time of 2:10.35.  Filippa Malmstrom recorded a provisional cut touching the wall in 2:12.42 to place fifth.

Morgan Schraudner lead a trio of divers scoring a 320.65 to finish fifth.

In the final event of the meet, the 400 free relay, Zoellner, Hoare, Niska, and Takuseviciute teamed up for a winning time of 3:32.58.

This wraps up the 2025 portion of Cumberlands schedule.  The Patriots will return to the water on Friday, January 9th, when they travel to Boiling Springs, NC to face NCAA DI Gardner-Webb.
