Bowling Green, KY – On the heels of a career-performances, Patriots forward
Zaram Fredricks has been named the MSC Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. It marks her first weekly honor of the senior's career.
Over Cumberlands two games, Fredricks notched 7.0 ppg, 11.5 rebounds per game, and 3.5 blocks per game as the Patriots improved to 8-1 overall on the year.
Fredricks opened the week with her third double-double of the season, grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds to go along with six blocks and 10 points. The Lagos, Nigeria native grabbed 14 defensive boards, which limited the Owls to one-possession, while her six blocks broke the single game program record.
The senior followed that up with six rebounds, four points, and a block against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Fredricks was a pivotal part of the Patriots defense that limited the Pomeroys to 24.5% shooting from the field.
Fredricks is third in the NAIA with 99 rebounds, while her 18 blocks ranked ninth in the country.
UC returns to the court Tuesday, November 25, when they host IU Southeast. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
