Williamsburg, KY – The Cumberlands archery team recorded 12 podium finishes, including six national champions, as the Patriots closed out USA Indoor Collegiate National Championships with a runner-up finish. UC garnered 132 points, scoring 62.50 points during the individual shootdowns and 26 points during the mixed team rounds.
Colton Caudill and
Kimber Wheeler earned individual national titles for the Patriots. Caudill captured his first national title after carding an 1197 over the two days of qualification. The junior carded a perfect 600 over the final round, which tied the USA Collegiate national record, while Caudill's 1197 also broke the Patriots school record. It marks the second podium finish for Caudill.
Capturing her third individual national title, Wheeler was dominant at the USA Indoor Nationals qualification. The Craig, CO native utilized a pair of 296 to close out the championship with an 1179 to post the best score by three points. Wheeler achieved 99 10's over the four rounds. The senior is now tied with Lakin Crum for third in program history for individual gold medals.
The duo of Caudill and Wheeler also notched gold in the mixed fixed pins division, while UC captured national titles in both fixed pin team division. Caudill teamed with
Joseph West to pull away from the field and win gold with a score of 2387. Wheeler coupled with
Hannah Summers to edge out a national championship by one point.
UC's final national title came in the mixed barebow division as
Tyler Woosley and
Lauren Oosterbaan tallied a 1983 to win gold by 20 points. It marks the second time in program history that the Patriots earned gold in mixed barebow and the first since 2023.
In addition to winning the mixed barebow division, Woosley and Oosterbaan earned bronze in their respective division. Woosley carded a 999 to post a third place finish in the men's barebow division. It marks Woosley's seven individual podium finish, which ties Josh Isenhoff for the program record. Oosterbaan program the program record notching a 984 over the two days of qualification. She became just the second barebow archer to podium at indoor nationals.
West collected his second podium finish of these championships as he carded an 1190 to finish tied for second in the men's fixed pins division. This is West's first individual podium finish.
Caleb Poe carded an 1181 to place eighth.
UC tallied a pair of top five finishers in the women's compound division. Freshman
Lilie Aguilar recorded her first podium finish after carding an 1163.
Marissa Harding finished just off the podium as her 1159 notched fourth place.
In addition to earned gold as part of the women's fixed pins division, Summers carded an 1173 to place fifth. Finishing one spot back of Summers is
Ayla Mills, who carded an 1169.
Blaine Kostrzewski tallied an 1183 to place fifth in the men's compound division and score four points for the Patriots.
Cumberlands notched a bronze medal in the mixed compound division, while the women's compound team division earned a national runner-up finish.
The Patriots will now turn their attention to outdoor season with the USA Outdoor Regional Championships set for April 9-11 at the UC All-Purpose Field.
