Elkhart, IN – The Cumberlands women's & diving team scored 60 points to sit in third place of the team standings after day one of NAIA Championships. The Patriots had both their relays post top-five finishes to earn All-American accolades.
The Patriots opened with a fifth place finish in the 200 medley relay with a season best time of 1:45.90.
Sarah Zoellner opened the relay with a 26.93 before handing it off
Megan Schoenlein, who split a 29.57.
Filippa Malmstrom followed with a 25.69 as
Celin Ullern closed it out for the Patriots with a 23.71 to secure All-American honors.
Cumberlands followed that up with an All-American performance in the 800 free relay.
Sarah Zoellner opened with a 1:54.71, which is the ninth fastest 200 free in school history.
Alicja Sedlak followed with a 1:55.11 to put Cumberlands in contention midway through the race. After
Ugne Takuseviciute split a 1:54.69,
Michelle Weiss closed out with a 1:54.39 to place third in the event with a season-best time of 7:38.90.
The Patriots return to pool Thursday, March 5
th, for day two of the NAIA Championships. Prelims are set to begin at 9 a.m. with finals taking place at 5 p.m.
