Williamsburg, KY - The Patriots archery team recorded 15 podium finishes, including five regional champions. UC had a head-to-head match up in the finals of both the men's and women's compound division.
Jared Laux, who entered eliminations seeded ninth, went 4-0 to capture the men's compound title. After winning his first match, Laux knocked off top-seed
Isaac Sullivan in a one-arrow shoot-off to advance to the semifinals. There he defeated
Landyn Cox 145-140 before squaring off with
Tanner Barker. The match went back-and-forth and was ultimately decided on a second one-arrow shootoff with Laux capturing the title.
Barker finished runner-up scoring at least a 143 in all his matches and posting a 3-1 record. Cox placed fourth in the men's compound division after going 2-2 on the day.
In the women's compound finals
Marissa Harding edged out Lillie Aguilar in a one-arrow shoot-off to capture first place. Harding went 4-0 on the day, including a 139-133 win over Anna Krampe of Lindsey Wilson in the semifinals. Aguilar notched a 3-1 record on the day, including winning a one-arrow shoot-off against Ruthie Masengale (Union) to reach the semifinals.
The Patriots had three of the top four finishers in the men's barebow division.
Tyler Woosley continued his strong performance with a 4-0 record en route to first place. The senior opened with consecutive 6-0 wins before rallying to defeat
Isaac Ivey 6-5 in the semifinals. Trailing 4-0, Woosley won the final three ends including taking the fifth end 6-4 to clinch the gold medal.
Nicolas Mudd earned bronze in the men's barebow division after posting back-to-back 6-5 wins to reach the semifinals. After falling to the third place match, Mudd defeated Ivey 6-4.
Jackson Ratajczak tallied a 4-0 record to capture first place in the men's fixed pins division. Ratajczak won his first two match by a combined eight points. In the semifinals, he won a one-arrow shoot-off to knock off second-seed
Jaden Taylor. In the finals, the freshman defeated Tate Jobe of Pikeville 136-134.
Colton Caudill captured third place with a 3-1 mark, while
Jaden Taylor went 2-2 to place fourth.
Capturing the Patriots final individual title was
Brianna Laux. Laux, who entered the day as the top-seed went 4-0 outscoring her opponents 27-3 on the day. The senior defeated Olivia Hale (UPIKE) 7-1 in the championship match. Teammate
Ceridwyn Salyers posted a 3-1 record, including a 6-2 win over Bella Barrett in the third-place match to earn bronze.
Cumberlands notched a pair of podium finishes in the women's barebow and fixed pins division.
Kennedy Sumpter won her first three matches of the day, outscoring her opponents 18-4, before earning a runner-up finish.
Mikayla Clemons rallied with a 6-2 win over Maria Sampson (Lindsey Wilson) to capture the bronze medal.
The Patriots had three of the top four finishers in the women's fixed pins division.
Hannah Summers led the way posting a 3-1 record to finish runner-up.
Kimber Wheeler notched a 3-1 mark to finish third, while
Camillia Gregory, who was the 12
th-seed, went 3-2 to finish fourth.
Freshman
Brodie Vinson notched a 3-1 mark and defeated A.J. Shagool (Lindsey Wilson) in the third place match.
The Patriots had 18 archers earn USA All-Region honors. Congratulations to

In the MSC team rounds Friday afternoon, the Patriots opened by winning gold in the women's recurve team rounds. The trio of
Brianna Laux,
Ceridwyn Salyers, and
Lidia Quezada posted a 6-0 win over Campbellsville, before defeating Pikeville 6-2 in the finals.
UC also captured a pair of gold medals during the mixed team rounds.
Isaac Sullivan and
Danielle Woodie won their first match before defeating Lindsey Wilson 148-145 in the mixed compound finals.
Colton Caudill and
Hannah Summers dominated the field winning both of their matches by double digits to finish atop the podium in mixed fixed pins.
UC notched a runner-up finish in the mixed recurve division, while earning bronze in the men's recurve division.
Cumberlands leads the MSC standings with 101 points, while Pikeville is in second place with 95 points.
The Patriots will return to the range Saturday, April 12
th, for the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Championships. Head-to-head eliminations will begin at 8 a.m. with live results
