Bowling Green, KY – Strong performances that included capturing the national title in their respective division leads to Kennedy Sumpter and Joseph West earned MSC Archer of the Week honors.  It marks the first time that season that both archers garnered this honor.

Sumpter opened the week carding a 512, hitting three ten's, to qualify eighth in the women's barebow division.  The senior followed that up by going 6-0 in the head-to-head eliminations to capture the individual national title.  Sumpter outscored her first three opponents 18-4, before knocking off fourth seed Morrighain Nyer 6-2 in the semifinals.  In the championship match, Kennedy made great shots to defeat third-seed Carlie Ellsworth 6-0, becoming the first Patriot women's barebow archer to capture an individual gold medal at outdoor nationals.  It was also Sumpter's third individual podium finish.  The senior teamed with Lauren Oosterbaan and Mikayla Clemons to earn bronze in the women's barebow team division. The trio defeated Lindsey Wilson 6-2 in the quarterfinals and posted a 6-2 win over Cal Davis in the bronze medal match.  Sumpter capped off nationals be part of Cumberland sixed barebow team that scored points.

West notched his first career podium finish after tallying a 6-0 record.  The Williamsburg, KY native carded a 679 with 37 ten's to qualify third in the men's fixed pins division.  West won three of his first four matches by double-digits to reach the semifinals.  There he edged out teammate Jackson Ratajczak 126-125 to advance to the finals, where he defeated Jaden Taylor 129-124. It marked the first time in program history that UC went one, two, three in the men's fixed pins division.  West followed that up teaming with Colton Caudill and Ratajczak to earn gold in the men's fixed pins team division.  The trio went 3-0, including a 214-207 won over Pikeville in the gold medal match.  It was the first time since 2018 that the Patriots earned gold in men's fixed pins.

Sumpter and West were a pivotal part of Cumberlands capturing the 2025 USA Collegiate Outdoor National Championship.  This concludes an impressive season for UC highlighted by winning USA 3D Nationals and capturing the Mid-South Conference title.
