Williamsburg, KY – The Cumberlands Archery team set the tone early in the day and never looked back capturing the Mid-South Conference 3D Archery Championship for the ninth consecutive year Saturday afternoon at the UC All-Purpose Field. The Patriots notched 212 points with nine conference titles and 24 podium finishes.
Cumberlands swept the podium in both the men's compound and men's fixed pins division. In the men's compound division
Noah Coyle carded a trio of 14's, including back-to-back 14's in the final two rounds to capture the conference title with a 70.
Owen Frohmader opened his day with a 14 and utilized a 14 in the sixth round to post a runner-up finish with a 68. Blaine Kostrewski completed the sweep notching a 64 to earn the bronze medal.
Joseph West, who entered the day as the top-seed hit three straight bonus rings, including a 14 in the fifth round to secure the conference title. West closed out the morning with a 68 to earn gold.
Jackson Ratajczak notched a 14 on his final arrow to finish runner-up, while
Bennett Schuler took home bronze with a 64.
Cumberlands had a trio of scorers in the women's recurve division. Freshman
Alina Distelberg notched back-to-back 12's to propel her to a conference title after carding a 62.
Lidia Quezada tallied 55 points to capture the bronze medal, while
Ceridwyn Salyers won a one-arrow shoot-off to place fourth.
Lauren Oosterbaan captured her first conference title after winning gold in the women's barebow division. Oosterbaan tallied a 60, including hitting a 12 in the final round to secure the conference title.
UC tallied a pair of podium finishers in the women's fixed pins division.
Hannah Summers tallied consecutive 14's to finish as conference runner-up with 63 points. Newcomer
Anslee Roberson carded 58 points to collect the bronze medal.
Brodie Vinson captured the silver medal in the men's recurve division after tallying 55 points.
Sierra Sands edged out
Chloe McElroy 62-60 for third place in the women's compound division. Sands recorded three bonus rings on the day to secure the bronze medal.
In the men's barebow division,
Zach Matthews and
Chase White each scored points for the Patriots. Matthews notched 42 points to place third, while White recorded 35 points to finish fourth.
The trio of Quezada, Distelberg, and
Alexis McGraw went 2-0 to capture the women's recurve gold medal. They defeated Lindsey Wilson 183-110 in the semifinals before taking down Pikeville 177-138 in the gold medal match.
Heather Carswell,
Hannah Summers and
Anslee Roberson won both there matches to capture gold in the women's fixed pins division.
The women's compound team of
Sierra Sands,
Lanie Nish, and
Chloe McElroy captured a 182-178 win over Lindsey Wilson in the gold medal match to captured the conference title.
In the men's barebow team round,
Chase White,
Zach Matthews and
Nicolas Mudd defeated Lindsey Wilson 159-140 in the championship match.
The Patriots final gold medal came from the mixed fixed pins duo of West and Carswell. They defeated Midway 114-111 in the semifinals before taking down Pikeville 134-123 in the finals.
Cumberlands notched runner-up finishes in both the men's compound and men's fixed pins team rounds. UC captured the bronze medal in barebow women and men's recurve team rounds as well as mixed compound.
Cumberlands returns to the range Thursday, October 2
nd, when they travel to Foley, AL to compete in the USA Archery 3D Championship. The Patriots are seeking their eighth consecutive national title.
