NAIA Coaches' Poll
Kansas City, MO – After an unbeaten start to the season, the Cumberlands women's soccer team earned 421 points to climb three spots and are ranked fifth in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, announced by the national office Wednesday. The Patriots opened the season with a 3-0-2 record with three matches against teams that are ranked in the top 15.
UC is coming off a 3-2 win over #9 Aquinas while also drawing ties with #10 Spring Arbor and #12 Missouri Valley. Cumberlands is averaging 2.40 goals per game with ten different players recording points on the year.
Nicole Araujo is coming off tying her career-high with five points in the win over the Saints and leads the Patriots with five goals and 12 points on the year.
Juana Fernandez Calvo also has multiple goals on the year.
Cumberlands has recorded two shutouts on the year as
Morgan White tallied 16 saves. She made a season-high five saves against the Cougars. The Patriots defense led by
Samantha Sokolove,
Madison Long, and
Noah Paalman has limited opponents to 8.0 shots per game and a 1.0 GAA.
Keiser is the top-ranked team in the poll with 508 points, while William Carey is ranked second. College of Idaho and John Brown are tied for third. MSC rivals Campbellsville and Cumberland is ranked 18
th and 19
th, respectively.
The Patriots will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 6, when they host #11 Indiana Wesleyan in their home opener. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the UC Soccer Complex
