Bowling Green, KY – After playing a pivotal role in helping the UC Archery team capture their sixth consecutive MSC indoor archery title, compound archers
Landon Standish and
Lanie Nish were named the MSC Archers of the Week.
Standish garnered his first MSC Archer of the Week honor after earning a trio of podium finishes. The Shelby, NC native carded a 592 with 52 ten's to earn the second-seed. During the head-to-head eliminations, Standish won his first two matches before edging out Bo Pipes (Lindsey Wilson) 149-148 in the semifinals. He followed that up knocking off top-seed Kapt Brandt 147-146 to finish atop the standings. Standish was also part of Cumberlands men's compound team that earned a runner-up finish.
The duo of Standish and Nish teamed up in the mixed compound division. The pair defeated Lindsey 156-150 in the semifinals before knocking off Union Commonwealth 157-155 in the gold medal match.
Nish was dominant on the weekend collecting a trio of gold medals. During qualification, the sophomore carded a 584 to earn the top-seed by eight points. Nish followed that up with a 3-0 record en route to capture the women's compound title. She won her first two matches by four points each, before winning a one arrow shoot-off in the gold medal match. Nish teamed up with
Savannah Hoffman and
Marissa Harding to defeat Union Commonwealth 228-216 in the women's compound team division.
Cumberlands returns to the range Saturday, January 31st, when they travel to Owensboro, KY to compete in USA Indoor Nationals. The Patriots will begin qualification at 2 p.m.
