Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots archery team wraps up their indoor season capturing a runner-up finish at the 2026 USA Archery Collegiate Indoor Championship, officials announced on Friday. Cumberlands tallied 126.83 points, highlighted by 12 podium finishes and four national titles.
UC closed out the championship with 18 marks that ranked in the top-10 of program history in their respective divisions.
Cammie Shuman notched UC's lone individual national, while the Patriots' fixed pins division garnered a trio of first place finishes during team rounds.
Shuman opened indoor nationals with back-to-back 296's before carding a 298 and 294 on the second day. The senior closed out the championship with a career-best mark of 1184, hitting 105 ten's, to capture her first individual national title. Shuman also posted the second-best qualifying score in program history.
Shuman was also part of two other national titles for Cumberlands. She teamed with
Ayla Mills to capture gold in the women's fixed pins division as the duo combined for 2,364 points, earning gold by 24 points over the next closest team. The senior was also paired with
Jackson Ratajczak for a score of 2,377 points to finish atop the podium in the mixed fixed pins team division.
UC's final gold medal came in the men's fixed pins division, where Ratajczak and
Aiden Woodie combined for the national title. The tandem scored 2,385 points to finish atop the leaderboard.
In addition to Shuman, the Patriots had three additional top-10 finishers in the women's fixed pins division. Mills and
Anslee Roberson both carded an 1180, which is tied for the fourth-best qualifying score in program history, however, Mills edged out Roberson on ten's count for third place.
Hannah Summers placed tenth with an 1159.
UC had a pair of national runner-up finishes on the men's side beginning with Ratajczak, who captured his third podium finish of the championship. The sophomore carded an 1193 with 113 ten's, to post the second best qualifying score in program history. Woodie followed with an 1192 to finish fifth overall, while
Joseph West's 1191 earned him a sixth place finish.
Bennett Schuler followed in seventh place after tallying an 1189. Woodie, West, and Schuler now hold the fourth, fifth, and eighth best qualifying score in program history.
Chase White led the Patriots men's barebow division with a national runner-up finish. White recorded a 1035 with 29 ten's to earn a podium finish and hold the second best mark in program history.
Nicolas Mudd (931) and
Zach Matthews (925) ranked sixth and eighth, respectively, in UC history.
Cumberlands had four marks that ranked in the top-10 of program history in the women's barebow division.
Kennedy Sumpter led the charge for the Pats carding a 955 to place sixth overall. That was also the third best qualifying score in program history.
Lauren Oosterbaan followed finishing 11
th with a 935, while
Isabell Lehsten's 921 earned a 13
th place finish. Oosterbaan and Lehsten now ranks fourth and fifth, respectively, in program history.
In addition to the individual success, Sumpter and Oosterbaan garnered a national runner-up finish in the women's barebow team division with an 1,890. Sumpter and White combined for 1,990 points, which garnered a national runner-up finish in mixed barebow. The tandem of White and Mudd also landed on the podium tallying 1,966 points to place third.
The Patriots also had a trio of top-ten finishes in the women's compound division.
Lanie Nish posted the second-best qualifying score in program history, an 1,167, to finish fourth overall at indoor nationals.
Marissa Harding was two spots back with an 1160, while
Savannah Hoffman carded an 1158 to place tenth.
Landon Standish tallied a sixth-place finish in the men's compound division after carding an 1180.
UC added a pair of podium finishes throughout the compound team and mixed team rounds. In the women's compound team division, the duo of Nish and Harding combined for a national runner-up finish after scoring 2,327 points. Nish also partnered with Standish to notch 2,347 points and a third place finish. The men's compound team of Standish and
Blaine Kostrzewski finished just off the podium in fourth place with 2,353 points.
Ceridwyn Salyers carded the eighth best qualifying mark in program history after finishing with a 1,068 in the women's recurve division. She also partnered with
Alina Distelberg for a sixth place finish in the women's recurve team rounds with a 2,124 to score points for the Patriots.
Texas A&M captured the national title with 142.5 points, while MSC rivals Lindsey Wilson scored 47.33 points to place sixth.
Cumberlands now shifts its focus to outdoor season. They will return to the range on April 9
th when they host the USA Outdoor Regionals Championship at the All-Purpose Field. It will be a two-day regional before the MSC Outdoor Championships.
