1/21/2026 1:05:00 PM

Kansas City, MO – University of the Cumberlands freshman Titouan Bernot has been named the NAIA Men's Swimmer of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Bernot becomes the third Patriot this season to earn the honor and collects the award for the first time in his career.

Bernot turned in a record-breaking performance during UC's double dual victory against Centre and Transylvania, delivering standout swims in both individual and relay events. The Nancy, France native opened the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:36.66, shattering a school record that had stood since 2009 by nearly two seconds. The time also ranks as the top mark in the NAIA this season, leading the national standings by nearly a full second.

He followed with a tactical performance in the 500-yard freestyle, using a strong late surge to secure the win while also achieving the NAIA provisional qualifying standard with a time of 4:38.33.

Bernot capped off the week as part of the Patriots' winning 200-yard freestyle relay, teaming with Adam Geddis, Alexander Poulsen, and Arvid Farro to post a time of 1:23.11.

UC returns to the water on Saturday, January 24th, when they return home to host #3 Milligan.  The Patriots will honor their 2026 senior class prior to the meet, which is set to begin at 1 p.m.
