BOWLING GREEN, KY – Following a strong opening weekend to the outdoor season, the University of the Cumberlands swept the Mid-South Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field weekly honors as
Cole Bennett was named MSC Men's Track Athlete of the Week and
Nate Goodin earned MSC Men's Field Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced Monday afternoon.
Bennett opened his outdoor campaign with a dominant performance in the 5,000-meter racewalk at the Cumberlands Early Spring Meet. The senior crossed the finish line in 22:31.24 to win the event while also hitting the NAIA A standard. His time currently leads the NAIA this season, putting him at the top of the national leaderboard early in the outdoor schedule.
Goodin also turned in an impressive showing for the Patriots in the jumps. The freshman claimed the high jump title after clearing 1.85 meters and followed that with a runner-up finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.58 meters. His multi-event performance helped highlight a strong day in the field events for UC.
