BOWLING GREEN, KY – For the second consecutive week,
Tavon Davis has been named the MSC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced Monday afternoon. The junior sprinter turned in a historic performance at the Raleigh Relays, one of the premier Division I meets in the country.
Davis headlined the weekend with a record-breaking run in the 400-meter dash, winning the event out of a loaded field of 127 competitors with a time of 45.75. The mark not only secured the NAIA A standard, but also broke his own school record and stands as the fastest time in the NAIA this season.
He followed that performance by anchoring the Patriots' 4x400-meter relay team to a fourth-place finish with a time of 3:10.56. The relay also hit the NAIA A standard and currently ranks as the fastest time in the NAIA this season.
In total, Davis recorded two events, two A standards, and two NAIA-leading marks, solidifying his place as one of the top sprinters in the nation.
Davis has now earned back-to-back MSC weekly honors and won NAIA Track Athlete of the Week last week as well.
