BOWLING GREEN, KY – After a strong start to the outdoor season, the University of the Cumberlands earned a sweep of the Mid-South Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field weekly honors as
Alina Boshchuk was named MSC Women's Track Athlete of the Week and
Katie Slade earned MSC Women's Field Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced Monday afternoon.
Boshchuk delivered a strong performance in the 1,500-meter run at the Cumberlands Early Spring Meet. The senior claimed first place in the event with a time of 4:48.20, which currently ranks as the fourth-fastest mark in the NAIA this season. Her victory helped highlight a strong showing from the Patriots' distance group to open the outdoor campaign.
Slade also impressed in her first outdoor meet for UC, earning the field athlete honor with a win in the javelin and a top-five finish in the shot put. The freshman recorded a winning throw of 34.06 meters in the javelin and added a mark of 10.04 meters in the shot put to finish among the top competitors in the event.
The Pats will continue their season as they compete at Emory and Charlotte this weekend.
