Williamsburg, KY – Cumberlands athletics spring sports have jumped onto the scene with incredible performances and big wins.  For their outstanding efforts in helping their teams capture wins attacker Ashlee Baker and pitcher Wes Culley have been named the Pepsi Athletes of the Week, the athletic department announced Monday. 
 
Ashlee Baker garnered Athlete of the Week honors after pacing the Patriots to a trio of wins, including a pair of victories against top-10 opponents.  The junior set the tone against #9 Missouri Baptist tallying four goals and four assists in the game.  She tallied six of her points in the first half as UC won 19-6 in a game that was called after the third quarter.  Baker followed that up accounting for 60% of the Pats offense as UC earned the 10-9 win over #3 SCAD.  The Las Vegas, NV native netted five goals and dished out an assist on the game-winning goal in the victory. In their AAC opener, Baker opened the game with a hat trick, while dishing out five assists in the 23-4 win over Truett McConnell.
 
Wes Culley earned athlete of the week honors after a stellar performance on the mound.  Culley tossed a nine-inning complete game shutout, scattering three hits as UC earned the 10-0 win over Georgetown.  It was Culley's third straight complete game and hit struck out nine throughout the game.  The grad student retired the first 13 batters he faced, while only allowing four runners to reach scoring position in the game.  With the win, Culley improves to 5-0 on the season.
