Bowling Green, KY – The University of the Cumberlands Athletic Department has extended their lead atop the Mid-South Conference President's Cup after a strong winter campaign, conference officials announced Thursday. The Patriots have totaled 134 points, while leading both the Men's & Women's All-Sports Trophies.
UC captured six Mid-South Conference titles during the winter season and have won ten conference titles so far this season. The Patriots have swept both the men's & women's swimming & diving as well as the men's & women's indoor track & field championships. Cumberlands followed that up repeating as the MSC champs in men's wrestling, while UC cheerleading captured their fifth title in program history. In addition, the Patriots earned nine points from women's bowling and women's wrestling, while men's basketball garnered eight points.
Patriots men's swimming & diving captured their eight straight MSC title after scoring a championship record 978 points. UC's dominating performance garnered 47 MSC All-Conference selection, including 33 MSC First Team All-Conference honorees. The Patriots notched a 7-1 dual meet record on the season and were one of the most consistent teams throughout the season. Alexander Poulsen was named the MSC Swimmer of the Year, while Titouan Bernot was the MSC Freshman of the Year. Cumberlands went on to a national runner-up finish, which was the best in program history.
UC women's swimming & diving continued their winning ways earning their 14
th straight MSC crown. Cumberlands notched a new conference record with 969 points and took home a trio of top honors. Sarah Zoellner was named the MSC Swimmer of the Year, Bella Hoare was the MSC Freshman of the Year, and DD Blankenship was named the MSC Assistant Coach of the Year. The Patriots had 43 All-Conference selections and went on to earn a third place finish at nationals.
Cumberlands cheer has been one of the most consistent teams this winter culminating in them winning the MSC title. The Pats broke the school record three times throughout the season, including back-to-back performances during the conference championship. UC opened with a 95.00 in the prelims and came back with a 95.10 in the finals to take home their fifth title in program history. Hannah King was named the MSC Cheerleader & Freshman of the Year, while RJ Conroy and Phebe Mchargue swept Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year. The Pats had ten all-conference honorees.
UC captured their third straight MSC men's indoor track & field championship after tallying a program record 340.5 points. The Patriots scored points in every event contested during the championship, including 13 conference champions and 32 all-conference performances. Mark Lawin was named the MSC Athlete & Freshman of the Year, while Bradley Sowder was named the MSC Coach of the Year. UC went on to earn a national runner-up finish at the 2026 national championships.
On the other side, Patriots women's track & field won their fourth straight conference title scoring 294 points. The Patriots tallied 11 conference champions and had 26 MSC All-Conference performances. Abia Kante was named the MSC Athlete of the Year. UC clipped seven national cuts and placed 22
nd at nationals.
Patriots men's wrestling defended their MSC title scoring 168 points during the MSC tournament. UC went 4-1 in conference duals to earn a share of the MSC regular season title. Cumberlands tallied seven all-conference honorees led by Matteo Vargo and Weston Melvin, who both captured conference titles.
Lindsey Wilson is in second place with 119.5 points, while Campbellsville is edging out Cumberland 107.5 to 106 points for third place.
