Toccoa, GA – The #23 University of the Cumberlands men's golf team delivered a strong performance at the Currahee Club Invitational, finishing third out of nine teams with a three-round total of +35.
The Patriots competed against a strong field that featured multiple ranked programs and secured a top-three finish behind #24 Indiana Wesleyan (+17) and #15 Webber International (+26). Cumberlands also finished ahead of #3 Marian (Ind.), who placed fourth with a score of +41.
Cumberlands was led by Pedro Morgado and Pablo Lopez Martin, who both recorded top-five finishes. Morgado carded rounds of 75 (+3), 71 (-1), and 76 (+4) to finish tied for fifth with a 222 (+6). Lopez Martin matched that total, also finishing T-5 with a 222 (+6) after posting rounds of 75 (+3), 72 (E), and 75 (+3) while tallying five birdies and an eagle during the tournament.
Alexei Butchart delivered the Patriots' lowest round of the event with a 71 (-1) in the final round. He finished tied for 12th overall with a 226 (+10) after rounds of 77 (+5), 78 (+6), and 71 (-1) while recording six birdies.
Eli Fischer added another solid performance for UC, finishing tied for 18th with a 229 (+13) after rounds of 76 (+4), 77 (+5), and 76 (+4) with seven birdies across the three rounds. Theo Andersson rounded out the Patriots' team scoring with rounds of 78 (+6), 79 (+7), and 77 (+5) to place T-25 with a 234 (+18).
Competing individually, Alex Bennett finished T-38 with a 244 (+28) after posting rounds of 85 (+13), 80 (+8), and 79 (+7).
The Patriots will return to action on March 16–17 when they compete at the Firehawk Collegiate in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
