Kingsport, TN – University of the Cumberlands women's lacrosse team has excelled both on the field and in the classroom with 13 student-athletes garnering AAC Academic All-Conference honors, the conference office announced Thursday. UC had every student-athlete that was eligible for the honor, garnering this distinction.
In addition to the all-conference honorees,
Savannah Reed was named as the Patriots representative to the AAC Champions of Character team.
Veterans
Koral Hadac,
Reese Kincaid,
Anna Lobbezoo,
Emma Rittman, and
Madison Rupp have earned this distinction for the third consecutive season. While
Ashlee Baker,
Sarah Linam,
Tess Lisy, and
Jenna Veech have earned this honor in back-to-back seasons.
Joining them on the Academic All-Conference list are sophomores
Elizabeth Crittenden,
Mikayla Kimsey,
Savannah Reed, and
Machenzie Willis, who earned this distinction for the first time as a Patriots.
In order to be nominated for the Academic All-Conference Team each athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have completed at least one year at a college or university. The AAC also recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport. The student-athletes that are honored on the Champions of Character Team were nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values the NAIA embraces.
The Patriots will now set their sights on the AAC Tournament. Cumberlands will earn a first-round bye and face fourth-seed Georgetown in the semifinals on Friday, April 24 at 11 a.m. in Waleska, GA.
