Baker, Kimsey Garners National Player of the Week Honors

Kansas City, MO – A day after earning conference honors, Patriots attacker Ashlee Baker and goalie Mikayla Kimsey have combined to earn a trio of national honors, officials announced Tuesday.  Baker capture both the NAIA & IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week, while Kimsey was named the IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Against fourth-ranked Reinhardt, Baker recorded a team-best nine points.  The junior closed out the top-five match with three goals, while dishing out six assists in the game to pace Cumberlands.  Baker connected with Kaitlyn Friel for UC's first goal of the game, which was also her 100th point of the season.  The Las Vegas, NV native either scored or assisted on seven of the Patriots first eight goals to tie the game midway through the third quarter.  She added a goal and an assist in the fourth quarter as the Patriots earned the 16-8 win. 

Baker leads the NAIA with 108 points and 56 assists, while her 52 goals rank third in the NAIA this season.  The Las Vegas, NV native has also climbed to third in program history with 56 assists so far this season.  This marks the second time this season that Baker has been named the NAIA Offensive Player of the Week. 

Kimsey garnered IWLCA Defensive Player of the Weel honors after a fantastic performance between the pipes.  The sophomore was impressive throughout the game and elevated her performance in the second half to garner national honors.  Kimsey tied her season-high with 13 saves in the win over the Eagles.  The sophomore made seven saves in the second half, while holding Reinhardt scoreless over the final 26 minutes of the game.  Kimsey closed out the contest with a 61.9% save percentage in the game to go along with a caused turnover and two ground balls.   The Jacksonville, FL native has posted a NAIA-best 57.1% save percentage on the season.
 
The Patriots will return to the field on Wednesday, April 15th, when they travel to Georgetown, KY to face the (RV) Tigers.  Gametime is set for 6 p.m.
